The 6-speed manual transmission in the Audi A4 has been redesigned and features a smaller clutch and plenty of magnesium. The result is a better power-to-weight ratio than before thanks to a drop in weight by 35.3 pounds.
Instead of the shaft to its front-axle differential found on previous versions, the new manual has a spur-gear stage. In addition to putting you in complete control of your vehicle, the redesigned transmission allows the A4 to go from 0 to 60 mph 0.7 seconds faster than the previous generation, bringing this sprint down to 5.7 seconds.
Available Sport Plus Package
Those who take advantage of the Audi A4’s available manual transmission will also be eligible for a Sport plus package. This package delivers cast aluminum 18-inch wheels with a 5-double-spoke-star design and available exterior paint in Daytona Gray.
Inside, you will find an Alcantara® and S line leather interior complete with sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel featuring brushed aluminum decorative inlays, and stainless steel pedal caps. This package also adds a sport adaptive suspension and Audi dynamic steering.
Other Performance Specs
To work together with this new transmission, the A4 has a 2-liter TSFI® engine with 273 pound-feet of torque and 252 horsepower. There is also a new quattro® all-wheel drive system that features ultra-technology optimized for efficiency and fully variable torque distribution.
For those who don’t want a manual transmission, you can also enjoy a 7-speed S tronic® dual-clutch automatic.
