After years of only being available in Europe, the Audi A5 Sportback is now available in the United States. This sleek variant of the popular A5 coupe does more than just add a couple of extra doors. It combines all the best features of a coupe, a sedan, and a hatchback into one luxurious package.

Get to Know the 2018 A5 Sportback Inside and Out

The A5 Sportback made a splash when it was first unveiled at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show. Check it out in the video below.

As you can see, from the front the A5 Sportback is nearly identical to its coupe sibling. The wide, flat SIngleframe grille sits between Xenon plus headlights with LED daytime running lights. The 18” 10-spoke dynamic design wheels are outfitted with all-season tires, and if you like, you can upgrade them to Audi Sport® 5 double-spoke star design. The A5 Sportback’s signature flat, flowing roofline features a standard sunroof that slopes back to the rear hatch, which opens to reveal 35 cubic feet of cargo space.

In the cockpit you’ll find a wing-design wraparound dashboard that keeps all important features within arm’s reach. The three-spoke multifunction steering wheel features shift paddles to easily change gears on the 7-speed S tronic® dual-clutch automatic transmission. A touchscreen in the center of the dashboard gives access to all of your smartphone’s apps, such as music, navigation, and phone calls.

Behind the steering wheel is the available Audi Virtual Cockpit. This customizable instrument cluster includes access to audio, and navigation through Google Earth™. A three-zone automatic climate control ensures passengers in the front and rear are comfortable. In between the front passenger seats you’ll find the MMI® touch control, which lets you write your commands and tell the navigation system where you wish to go.

Words and videos are a great way to learn the details about a car, but the best way to truly discover the 2018 Audi A5 Sportback is to take one for a test drive.

While words and videos are a great way to learn the details about a car, but no words can properly describe the sound of the 252-horsepower TFSI® engine. Pictures cannot match the feel of 273 pound-feet of torque. And no video can match the thrill of the legendary quattro® all-wheel drive hugging a turn.
